Meet Rakali!

The market Mascot

Rakali is our beloved mascot, look at that little guy!

They're not an Otter, they're a Water Rat!

We chose Rakali as our mascot because they are a unique and lesser-known Australian native animal.

If you're ever making an event, it's worth having a little someone you can draw and use for your event branding and imagery.

We'd like to give a massive thanks to Erika 'Carnival' Vasos for the design. You can find their work on Carniart.com.

An Australian Native

Rakali, our Australian Water Rat mascot, is a lesser known but very cool Australian native marsupial.

We decided on a less common Australian animal, to help introduce people to some more unique wildlife, and to give us a unique mascot!

A Rakali is a small, semi-aquatic marsupial native to Australia. They are known for their long pointed snout, webbed feet, and a thick, waterproof coat of fur. Rakali are excellent swimmers and spend much of their time in and around water, where they hunt for food such as insects, crustaceans, and small fish.

Despite their name, Australian Water Rats are not actually rats but marsupials. They are nocturnal creatures and are often found in wetlands, rivers, and coastal areas.

Lil guy gets some love

We're pleasantly suprised by how many people have said they love Rakali, and drawn their own art!

We'll have more art uploaded soon! If you have any art of Rakali, we'd love to see it!

You can share it with us on social media, or email it to us at Mail@mfmm.market
